When I shared a hovel with several other delinquents (starving state college students) we used to have a have a running joke. The joke revolved around root beers in the fridge. Living with four other guys usually meant that the beer went quicker than your ex-lax eating grandmother drinking prune juice. On more than one occasion each of us had reached into the fridge to pull out a cold one only to discover the cupboard was bare, or worse you grabbed one of our never ending supply of root beers. Not exactly what you bargained for, but now you were stuck with it.

Nothing against Hires or IBC but grabbing a root beer from the fridge meant that you had been duped. Soon the phrase was embedded in our vocabulary. If your buddy gave you bogus questions to your Statistics final, you grabbed a root beer from the fridge. If you came home with a girl with visible flaws from the bar, you pulled a root beer from the fridge. Not what you expected, but now you owned it.

This week when I went to vote, I was surprised to see Ted Kennedy’s name as one of my choices for State Senator. It’s not that I didn’t expect him to run for re-election, it’s that it finally hit me. I didn’t see any campaign posters, lawn signs, bumper stickers, etc. Nada. To my knowledge this is a man who did not campaign in any way, yet was still able to crush the sacrificial lamb that dared oppose him.

Does the mythical aura surrounding this family insulate them from occupational choirs? Every occupation has it’s downside, the one area where you have to pay your dues. For example a firefighter has to enter a burning building. A police officer has to confront criminals. There are things we all have to do to justify our paychecks. If these are common truths then shouldn’t politicians have to answer to their constituents? I’ve exercised my right to vote for roughly 15 years and I can honestly state that I don’t recall Senator Kennedy having any opposition.

At this point in his career what does he have to offer? Does he bring new ideas to the table? Does he still understand the plight of the common man? Does he understand that the pilfering of public resources here in the Baystate are crushing the morale of it’s inhabitants?

The Big Dig is one of the largest misuses of taxpayer resources in history. The state’s schools are chronic under performers. Crime is on the rise. The state’s second largest city is precariously close to going into receivership. Wages are stagnant, and real (middle-class wage producing) work is hard to come by.

Perhaps it’s time for a change. Perhaps it’s time for a fresh voice. One that has been weathered by hard choices, such as which bill will I have to pay late so I can afford to heat my home. An individual with a bad back from wrestling with ways to pay for his/her children to attend college. An individual weary from wondering how will he care for his parents who have worked their entire lives yet Social Security will not provide a living wage.

I voted for Kennedy, but the whole time I felt like I had grabbed a root beer from the fridge. Ain’t Camelot great?

Best Week Ever

So the wife and son went to Texas for a whole week leaving me and my beautiful daughter to have the week to ourselves...we did alot...we went to Lupa Zoo, Magic Wings, hiking, Northampton, shopping for toys for her, and we hung out at the house and played....it was literaly the best week I have had all year long....I will miss the alone time with her when the wife and son get back...I only hope that she remembers this week as she gets older, and remembers that her father loves her so much......

Friends who live in the middle of nowhere

So last night I visited a friend up on the Three rivers area of western Mass. I hadn't talked with this friend in a while, he had no idea what was going on in my life and how much I really needed to get out of the house. As soon as he called me, I packed up my laptop and ipod and ran out the door. I had to call him multiple times to get the directions correct. He kept saying take this road to the end then take this road to the end and then right, and left and I still felt so unsure the way. I saw an edlery man sitting in his yard, and thought of stopping and asking directions, which is so unheard of in the north east, but in the south stopping to speak with someone, a complete stranger is so common. Its a slower life in the south, one which you can just be polite and reach out to strangers and most of the time they are more than willing to help. that southern hospitality. But again in Mass it doesn't fly, which is okay, we have cell phones for this type of stuff anyway.
When I finally got to my friends house, he was outside with his wife and two kids. The night was cool, and the breeze came across the two arce field behind his house. It felt so peaceful, I was so far in the sticks, that there was no noise pollution, and at nght, the stars were so bright and everywhere.....
later on after I explained why I was in my mood to my friend, we took a drive into town. Three riers is apparently part of Palmer, but I really didn't care, it felt as if I was in a different state, somewhere I have never been, and it felt good. It felt like I walked right out of my life into this wierd twightzone episode that allowed me to be someone new. I wished that I could have moved in right there and lived my life without ever having to really face me again.
I took pics on my cell phone and sent them to my wife. I took pics of me on a bridge. and of a sign outsdie of the package store...

In REM 's famous song, Finest Work Song, there is a line that really troubled me tomight, it goes something like, "what you want and what you need, has been confused, been confused..."
And it really got me thinking about what I need in life, compared to what I want. I don't know if I know this about myself or not. Is it a simple answer? or are they but really one and the same? I mean I want certain things, like my wife's love, and health for my children, but those are also things I need. I need to know that my wife, as sweet and charming and fun as she is, that her love will never leave me. I know I need this, I would fall to peices otherwise. I wanted the beer I am drinking right now, I know I probalbly don't need it, but it tasted decent, and I guess you can't complain about that. But there are so many things that can cross from one side to the next....but what is it that I turely need? This is the part that scares me, because I really don't have a clear answer. I wish that it was easy, that things always made sense, that life was simple, and pain free, but it isn't, and it's scary, and I feel like I am truely alone, though surrounded by my family, the little friends I allow. This film is on, on a maddening loop....I feel unspun, like I need time to pull myself together, to try to figure out what the hell I am trying to accomplish in this life, which is a total mystry. Oh where are you now, pussywillow that smiled on my sleeve. I guess I should reallyget to know me again, to see me as who I am, instead of this shell I occupy with slight force. I could go and do anything, but instead, I hide away from the world, and myself. I hate almost everything about this, and it's killing me. Slowly I feel less and less in control, being led around and forced to deal with things I do not want to deal with, to lay awake at night, with no sleep, staring into the black void that in my bedroom ceiling, trying like hell to just see the way one more time, to try to find myself hidden away, locked behind my stupid grin and lagging eyes, to feel whole in Me. I guess I need to dream more, to forget these horrible little nightmares of my waking life, to try to deal, to try to stay away from the edge....

Okay so my last post was abit out there until I read this CBS article. Now things sort of spook me.
I mean think about it. For the last five years I have said the exact same thing, that it's our foriegn policy that drives OBl, and that the Iraq war was a shame. I have articles from Disinformation.com from fall of 2002 that I had printed out that basically said that Saddam was no threat, and had no wmds. And on the run up to the war, when us "crazy lefty no nothings " were saying that this war would be wrong, the MSM and GOP fuck heads just said we were aiding and abedding the enemy. Fuck them. They are the ones who completely fucked up. I am so sick of being right about the politics of now. I had an interesting rant session with a co-worker today about my post, and I figured what the fuck I would post it fo you to view.

I take direct advise from my good friend mary jane, and she tells me the man is changing everything we hold dear about this country. As a Repub, you should be up at arms, I thought the Grand Old Party stood for fisical responsiblity, a strong national defense, and a smaller gov. On everyone of those points, this admin has taken a total 180 stance.

w's little war on terror is a joke. OBL is the one who attacked us on 9/11, and while w pulled resourses and attacked Iraq, that bastard is walking around free. Not to mention our now "broken" army, which is being put to task on things they were not meant to be used for. If Iran truely is the threat of the day, and w and cheny keep up the drama of promising some sort of military solution to end the game, whose army is going to fight their war? Our's can't, it's caught in a fly trap called Iraq. And look at the growth of the gov, consolidated agencies run by incompetant fools whose lack of knowledge of the job is literally killing people. w admin is good at politics, but suck at governing.

But like you said, dems are no better, but this country deserves at least a government that can actually do it's job, and as for the "how does this affect me" question, we can just call up anyone who had their lives ripped apart by the war or Katrina/rita. It's not the governments job to hold our hands, but it is it's job to repsond to national distasters with some semblence of competance, and when persecuting a war, we hope they would try to do it without the same.

Okay, so you realize that everything you ever worked for is falling to shit. Your manin the big house is stupid, and pretty much everyone around you sees this as clear as day. Poll numbers show that the prez is dragging his party down with him, and with mid year elections right around the corner, you had better start to get your head out of your ass to try and save the day.
So you tell a little man down at the DHS to clear a deal with the UAE to lease a couple ports in NY. You know how the crazy folks will act, heck you have benn bringing fear and dread to the dinner table whenever anyone says boo about Arabs. Now all you have to do is have the Prez come out and say he will Veto any bill brought before him that puts this deal in dire straights. Americans eat this shit up, and yell at the top of their collective lungs to stop this deal from ever happening. GOP congressmen dtand up to evil prez and take teh deal to a vote, and it looks bad for the Prez, heck he may even have to do something here.....but wait, what's that you say, UAE has pulled the plug on the deal? Wow, what a twist of unforseen events.....now the folks back at home have this happy feeling again, like the GOP actually have a back bone to stand up to w. and are standing up to fight for our freedoms. Folks at home are going to be looking differently at the GOP, past all the old talk about corruption, and incompitence, they will own the show agin, and bring National Security to the fore front of their campaigns, again owning nightly tlak shows and news cycles, acting as if the last four years of knocking down pretty much all the dems attempts to actually make port security a reality just a small hicup in their collective forgetful brains. So Georgie told Times Magazine not to print the Story about him spying on americans(muslims). Spygate or snoopgate. Hey at least Bush for once knew he did something wrong. He will always deny it, but this is clearly the closest to an admission we will get from our dictator. Remember freedom can only be defined after we take a headcount of the muslims I mean terrorists in this country. We take the number of our liberties and subtract the number of terrorists and attacks, this is the Bush formula for democracy. "I mean he's not spying on Americans, just Muslims????"
This morning on NPR their was this military Col or General talking about the CIA buying and selling Pro-America propaganda in Iraqi newspapers. He justified selling these articles by saying that it is common practice in this region and that Saddam did it all the time. I guess Saddam is a role model to the CIA. In a region that is supposed to be non-democratic or not free (as Bush is telling us), then why are we copying their tactics. This CIA Col should be court marshalled and his daddy Bush impeached.

I am glad Lieberman is going to the empire side of politics. I can't stand the idea of him running for VP or President. His support for Bush will insure he wont get the Democratic Ticket. Though he is doing a huge dis-service to his religion (which he would deny like Judas). You can't support Bush without equally supporting ethnic cleansing. I mean no child left behind, cut in social programs, and the pushing for strong "Christian values" (though they are not Christian at all). These are all policies that support rich whites. Lieberman is an idiot. I hope they give him Rumsfeld job. I would love to see a greater rift in the Democratic party. Maybe it will help create a sepration from the Dean-Leahy's and the Lieberman Repub-ocats. The real crime is still Iraq. Lieberman must own stock in KFC and Strip Malls of America. Think about it all that desert, we could build malls, Starbucks, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Arab-Disney with characters like abusive CIA agents sticking cigars in Iraqi.....Well they would be exhibits of freedom. Think of the profit's. Bush has said that we need to lead the world in freedom, he says it is our job. When did freedom and ethnic cleansing become synonymous. There just does not seem to be enough time to do all the things that need to be done.....

Been busy in the last month or so, bought a new car, got a new job, started a second job ( to pay for the new car ) and been endlessly busy hanging with the kids....

But now that we seem to be all caught up with the past events, let's jump in and talk politics....

I heard on the way in today on the way in that there is a right wing group that is going to be putting out ads to request that w. pull Meirs as his choice for scotus. I find this interesting, more so to find out how w. reacts when his base gets divided and he has to react....to me though, it would seem that w. would be reacting to "polls", ie people's opinions, which he says he does not base his decisions on. He pretty much has made that a known when he's confronted at press breifings about different poll ratings and how they affect his policies.

We passed the 2000 milestone on 10/25/05. And yes, this is a milestone. As much as the Pentagon wants to deny this fact. When 2000 American soldiers die, it's important. Each one of those who passed into the void, is important. More and more I think folks are waking up to the fact that all this is wrong, on so many levels....

Was watching Kristof on TDS the other night, Crooks and Liars has the video. I found it hard to understand, that even now, the "right" still believed it was necessary to invade, ( and occupy) Iraq. I would love for a news reporter to ask W. to comment on his comment a year or so ago when he said that Saddam kicked the inspecters out and that's why we used force. I would also task him to explain what part of resolution 1441 that Saddam violated. To my knowledge, all he ahd to do was give an accounting of the weapons programs and locations for the materials, and to allow inspectors on the ground with unlimited access. Which I believe he did.

w. has been lying about shit for so long, that I really think he believes that shit he says. It must make it easier for him to sleep at night....

Alot of talk about "Fritzmas", today may the day.....I for one have been following this since the beginning, and now seeing this actually coming to a head, it does feel like x-mas.....but w. will pardon his buddies, and then all shit will break loose....

Reminds me of the time, on Nov 1, 2004, night before the election, I was in DC visiting my awsome sister, that I ran into Ambas. Wilson at the REM concert. I walked over to him at the end of the concert and thanked him for standing up to the adminstration, and that there were people who supported him and his desicion.

Well, time is short, and I need to go surfing for info...

Concerning Katrina

A lot has been said of the Katrina disaster and the still to be determined after-effects. I'm sure there will be enough blame to spread evenly to all of the government agencies. The blame will be placed upon Mayor Nagin, Governor Blanco, Mike Brown and Michael Chertoff. I would like to raise my hand and accept my fair portion of blame, the guilt has already begun to exact it's toll upon me.
I've traveled to many parts of the United States. I've yet to see an area as impoverished as New Orleans. As someone who makes a significant part of their income from tips I have a hard time understanding how the money does not trickle down. This is one of the premier destinations for Americans with disposable income. This is the home to two professional sports franchises. This is the home of several well known universities. This is the home of the world's largest debauchery festival. How then does a significant portion of the population live in squalor? This cannot be answered with a reply resembling "those people are just lazy and don't want to work". Significant obstacles must be in the way of a large group of people preventing them from obtaining "basic American necessities" and in this case the means to evade Mother Nature.
So many individuals work behind the scenes it's hard to imagine how these conditions exist. Stop and think of the number of taxi cab drivers, hotel clerks, cooks, room service attendants, laundry room attendants, waitstaff, dishwashers, street cleaners, maintenance people, etc who make a tourist city run. Magnify that number exponentially to the point where you have enough of those individuals to make New Orleans operate efficiently. Only then can you begin to understand that there must be a more active force than laziness which keeps the masses destitute.
I wish I had a solution to this problem. The only one I can think of is an examination of the corrupt forces that keep the people of New Orleans locked in poverty and a thorough overhaul of their education system. Without money education is an individual's only path from poverty. That path should be even for everyone.
On a side note I need to breathe fire to the following individuals and institutions
SPCA - Have we become a society that is so twisted that you would send in boats and resources to rescue animals while knowing that there are individuals trapped within the city who don't have the means to escape.
Every major corporation in America - You lost not only the opportunity to do something noble and pure, but you lost an inadvertent advertising opportunity by not doing what you should have done. It became quite apparent from Day 1 that the government was not equipped to deal with this crisis immediately. Corporations could have taken the lead and dropped water (Poland Spring's execs are you listening), vehicles could have been provided for removal of the people (Hertz, Penske, U-Haul here's your portion of the guilt cake) are at the top of my list. But the makers and retailers of camping supplies, sports bars and the like will escape my name dropping rant (for now), but you to will have to live with the shame of dragging your feet when you could have ran.
I hate to bring race into this equation, but it is a variable. I'm not sure the government would have acted quicker if the majority of the victims had less pigment, but I know the corporations of America would have stepped up sooner if 20,000 consumers with blonde hair and blue eyes were knee deep in muck.
Mike Brown - Don't you miss your last job, the one where you headed the Arabian Horse Committee. May your conscious never rest over your inept handling of this situation.
Every Legislator in LA - I'm not sure the gov't is to blame for the levee situation. If you had a city that attracts 20+ million visitors each year you also had the tax base to fix some of your infrastructure problems.
Myself - As a person of African decent. I should be more aware of the plight of those who are oppressed. I've gone to New Orleans to eagerly spend money carelessly and never once did I question the inequality that is prevalent there. That is akin to me buying items that came from South Africa years ago, or buying the latest sneakers produced with underpaid labor. My luxuries should never be the result of another's plight.

So imagine if you will, the year is 2002, early 2002, and the war in Afghanistan is raging. Because W. was smart, he decided not to out source the job of cornering obl in Tora Bora to the Northern Alliance and instead pushed our own military to do the job. No Special Forces teams were sent to Iraq, because W. knew that this would allow vital intel to be lost on the ground.

Then in the summer of 2002, OBL is found, wounded by a National Guardsmen from MA, and brought before the International Criminal Courts, which w. had decided would be a good thing to join, knowing that at stake was the legitamcy of our resolve.

After OBL was sentenced in late 2002, the US, working with allies and the UN, decided to continue the fight against Al-Qaeda. We showered poor undeveloped nations with money to help ease their suffering, and by doing this, helping them understand the true intentions of our actions across the globe. And in the same process we help stop the growing extremists who would later turn their angst to America.

In 2004, when W. finally claims victory over the Al-Qaeda organization, the American people rejoice. They have really found a leader who stayed focused on his objectives and worked hand in hand with the global community to end what was seen as the beginning of the end of western civilization.

W. was elected by the largest margin ever recorded in modern time, and his legacy would live on for generations.....

OR...we have the absolute opposite, and we are living the American nightmare....

Alot going on this week, but you wouldn't know it from watching TV....and no, I'm not talking about the "first lady of comedy" or the "runaway bride"...

For starters, documents released in the UK show that the "die was cast for war" early in 2002, "the intelegence facts were being fixed around the policy."

Not too cool, lying to the american public, geez, it's cost us how many lives, 1594 dead soliders, over 30,000 causalties, and 300 billion....
and to top it off, we're so bogged down in Iraq that it could "hamstring Washington's ability to fight other wars"

The violence in Iraq is mounting again, there has been about 2 dozen cars bombs in the last week....

So Pfc. Lynndie is lucky, she was only following orders, which gets her off free, so what about the others who were following orders? Where is the accountablity?

Its not those who make it that are bad its those who sell it? You get the feeling the mid-west is so out of touch with raising their own children that they are blaming anything they can hit with their semi-automatics at 100 yards for the coruption of their children. It looks like Tom Delay may be one step closer to his day in court. As of late the GOP has givin us cry-baby liberals a chance to breath. It looks like it will take them a bit longer to obtain absolute power. In a step unlike the gop of the last few years has backed down ever so slightly from the debate over Delay and his alleged illegal use of funding form some sly dog lobbyist with right-wing agendas. They announced after a dark meeting with much cigar smoke that they would withdraw there rule changes proposed in November. These new rules basically said that if at any time there was a tie in the inditement commity, all charges would be dropped, which would mean that you couldn't be held responsible if your friends all voted for you to be saved. They did this so the democrats would look like they were the ones blocking the investigation of delay. The only problem was everyone was supposed to forget the fact that the new rules were rediculous and blame the democrats. It didnt work because for once the media world and the people themselves were actually paying attention for five minutes. (You cant even count on the public to be consistent in their ignorance.) This seems great but I like the conspiracy edge. Delay has bought himself tons of time to clean up loose ends, shred every incriminating document, and work on a personal image campaign. By the time he stands before his peers(all as guilty as he) his accusers wont have enough proof to cause suspiscion let alone impeachment. Unless they are willing to sacrifice mister delay to show there low tolerance for abuse of power and their willingness to prosecute not only democrats and those without a defined love of Jesus but also those reds who get caught without any way of turning it on the liberal community. I also believe delay, bolton, negroponte, bush, and cheney are disciples of some alien race(monsanto,marlboro) that are attempting to see how long it takes for a civilization to self-destruct. Whether or not any of this is valid isnt really the point, the important thing is that we all reserve the right to have guns, suv's, and Jesus Christ. These are the fundamental rights of the individual and the only way that man can truely be free. I give mad props to Delays ability to delay, he is the controller.

I would like to announce that I am now a republican. After reviewing the liberal record over the last 30 years and seeing the slow changes people go through (like making money becoming more important than the condition of the outside world) I am a republican. I am tired of losing and I am tired of being angry all the time with the rest of the world. They seem to be smarter than we are(bush has won twice) and they stick by what they believe far better than liberals(especially democrats). They also have a much more positive out look on life they believe the environment is fine, race relations are fine, and god will save us, he loves us remember. Besides how cool will I look driving an SUV down main street while blasting hip hop and eating a whopper. I want to live up the excesses of american life, resources are here for humanity(white people) to exploit, why else would god make oil, trees, and nuclear power? So I say live it up thats what its there for. Let god sort it out. Isn't that what the NRA says. Vote for Tom Delay in 2008, he is a man willing to do things to get the job done, like Bush, Cheney, and Negroponte!

By the way 4/20 is about more than just pot, it is also about being allowed to make decisions for yourself without the help of a bible or a politician.

This isn't the first time Walmart has done this either, in 2000 they closed there meat department in Texas for the same reason. Now I am not the biggest fan of unions in practice in the US the coruption has been disgusting, but I really think in princliple unions are a good thing and they do work when big money doesnt change policy. Walmart is just another example of big business trying to seperate themselves from social responsiblity in the name of the American Dream. I wonder if the American dream is the complete exploitation of all things on earth including people. Maybe the rest of the world is right, we are the devil. According to the Judao religions (including catholics and muslims) Satans jealousy of gods power and his love for those things on earth, has driven him to the exiles of gods light and the quest to destroy humanity. This is the perfect candidate for the bush administration. He takes no issue with doing all that it takes to get the job done. He is a man willing to make the sacrifices necessary to insure the safety of the Unite States. He considered the violence and cruelty of the Hondurans a "diplomatic step towards democracy" This includes rape, murder, and torture. One of there favorite means of torture was to rape and beat women and then hang them by dropping them out of a helicopter, diplomatic democracy. He claimed to not know anything about the tortur and execution of the Hondurans(including two american nuns). The only problem with all this is that the former and latter of his post both sent info to washington claiming abuse by the honduran rebels. I guess it must have stopped while he was in office, or nobody metioned it to him while he was having dinner with the rebel leader. None of that matters though, he is now the head of one of the most powerful posts in this country so withholding info will be easy for him. Not that Bush is interested in info anyway. I think it is a great he did what it took in Hondura and will do what it takes to stop terror, like sexual, physical, and mental abuse, all in the name of democracy. He will certainly inprove our foreign policy. It is great that one person will have absoulte control of the information collected around the world, I am sure he wont bias the info before sending it to the president, why would he? I think there are still Nazi officers around that could use a job, it sure isnt as hard as it used to be to find a job after killing millions of people. Oh wait we already employ them and are paying for their retirement.

Pre-War intel

Of course you've read the news articles concerning the recent release of the presidents hand picked commmision to get to the bottom of the pre war intel failures, which is quoted as being the most definitive of it's kind....but one glaring piece of the big picture was left out of the whole thing, The Office of Special Plans. They are the ones who fed the disinfo directly into the ear of Chenny and cut off any normal intel channels from getting out their versions of what was going on in Iraq.

It's funny, that if you think about it, Saddam actually met all the requirements put to him in resolution 1441, mainly to give a full accounting of his bio weapons programs, which he did, and to allow weapon inspecters into Iraq with full access, which he did. Of course W. said that Saddam was just hiding things, and decided to go in with Force and find things himself. Which didn't work out so well..as Mr Kay said, " We were all wrong."

They talk about the intel that was avail at the time justified the invasion, but if the intel was wrong, or manipulated by the admin, then the justification goes to boot, and we have and unjustified invasion of a soverign country, one inwhich continues today costing tax payers over 200 billion dollars and over 1500 soldiers lives, not too mention the causalities that continue to come home to destroyed lives...

I guess in the end, I would just want some accountablity from the Man......

I was asked to send out a guest blog and since I love delusional paranoia so much I knew what I wanted to bitch about. I wish I could see the faces of the GOP when they realized that not only did the Shaivo case fall into their laps, but when it started to lose its momentum the Pope dies! How awesome is it to be a republican right now? I started to think about things in terms of my own little life and I think I have a way to truly take advantage of certain situations. I realized I could actually capitalize on others losses for my own benefit. Recently a co-worker of mine lost a family member and had to miss work for a few days. I saw my opportunity in this. I realized that no matter what I didn't do or did wrong, I couldn't be called on it. I just had to blame it on the fact that we were short on staff and I didn't have time to get to it. I have done less work since she has been gone and I am looked at like I am doing a great job, simply because I act like I am really struggling with the extra work load. Now it takes very little work to do this aside from just saying I can't wait until she gets back. I just want to tell those crying liberals that republicans were right during the Clinton administration, the president does influence morality. I stand corrected. I was one of those liberals who actually thought that the president was just some over zealous, power hungry, insecure little man. Boy was I wrong. We all need to really think about how we can be more like our Administration. We all need to seize those opportunities(death,medical emergency) and sneak past those watchful eyes of our friends, relatives, and countrymen.

Terri and the Pope....

Heard this really interesting pieceo n NPR about something the pope said a few years ago....
that keeping people on life support when there is no hope of revival goes against the principles of the church....
Now the vatican came out and said that they should plug terri back in....yes like a fridge...
But the pope will more than likely turn into a turnip pretty soon, and then what will the vatican do? Hook him up, and then what? What if the pope was in the same position as terri? Would they keep him alive for two decades, only to prop him up each holiday for old times sake?

This whole terri mess is a horrible tragic event that is taking place in the lives of those around her. The fact the she has become some sort of political football for delay and bush squared is truely patethic...but it's a great diversion from Iraq, and it appeases those right wing fantics and anti abortion activists who cherish life so much, as long as it's american lives, and not Iraqi women and children's lives. Interesting side note, that the population of Iraq was over 50% children at the time of the invasion....lots of dead kids there and grieving parents....but heck, they's not terri...

it's almost as bad as all the baseball/steriod hearings that took place, more attention was given to that than to the 1528 dead american soliders in w's army... the whole baseball situation should have been taken to the baseball commision...

Apparently, congress now has the ability to overturn judical rulings( terri's law) and to hear arguements on how bad steriods are....Thanks goodness they aren't wasting their time investigating the whole sale abuse of w's adminstration .....

Maybe you can add a section to the blog where I can rant and rave. I have no one to talk to about my perceived global issues

I would first like to state that I am mot a qualified economist nor am I a financial wunderkind, I am merely a working stiff who is concerned about the future. Judging by the healthy 100% benefit my grandmother receives from Social Security (approximately $1200), I find George Bush’s State of the Union Address a bit disheartening. Most economic forecasters do not share George W. Bush’s gloomy prediction for Social Security. Most fare guestimates say that the program will no longer be able to pay full benefits somewhere between 2040 and 2050. After that time it will be forced to reduce the amount to 70%.

Considering most mortgages in 2005 are around $1200, the concept of 70% of my benefit in the future is cause for alarm. Similar to George Bush’s prediction I view it as bankruptcy. But not so much as financial bankruptcy, but as a moral bankruptcy. That we can provide so little to the individuals who have worked their entire lives to pay into a system that will net them very little in their time of need is reprehensible.

As anyone who had money in the market on September 12, 2001 can attest sometimes a shoebox is a safer place to store your assets. I find it hard to believe that our President would ask us to place our money in the market and gamble with the stable part of our retirement income. This is absurd, unless he of course had a hidden agenda. But since he nor any members of his cabinet where ever connected to big business and/or ENRON this idea is preposterous.
I propose a revolutionary idea. Social Security is meant to supplement your savings during retirement. But since the average new car costs $25,000 and the average new home price is $250,000 I am sure some people have few opportunities to save that engorged nest egg for their golden years. I would impose a .75 % sales tax on all items. This money would directly affect those who consume more and would actually serve a dual purpose. It would not only help bolster the current Social Security benefits that people receive now, but would also provide the needed boast to the program to ensure that it would be there come May 25, 2040. As a dedicated consumer I see it as a necessary evil. That overpriced SUV I envision will eventually help me pay for my utilities.

There is a serious flaw with this idea though. I would make it impossible for our government to use the additional proceeds from this venture to finance unjust wars, topple legitimate regimes, or bankroll schemes that benefit the few while penalizing the masses.

2. Legos. John is fasinated with spiderman, so of course he wants spiderman legos. I linked to the set he likes alot. Even some smal spiderman lego sets if they have them.
3. Thomas the tank engine pc game. John now has him own PC and needs some games to load on it. Thomas has one avail at Target in the cheap pc game isle. Sorry no pic or link. I saw one for 9.99.
4. Jenn and I are planning on getting a swing set for the back yard next year, and we are hoping that both kids can get a 50.00 gift cert to Toys R Us.

Hannah.
1. Incrediblock. This is new this year, it pretty cool and they have alot of mini sets that go along with it. They have small packs of the blocks for sale as well.
2. Gooble'n go Hippo. This works with the incrediblocks and peek a boo blocks.
3. Hannah is getting bigger and we thought that she might like her own chair. something Pink and pretty, with no characters on it. There is a set through Babies R Us called the kola baby sunshine chair, but there is no image avail on-line, but it's cost is around 50.00
4. Again the 50.00 gift cert to Toys R Us to go towards the swing set.
5. Parents magazine and Bbay Eistien have a toy lkine that is geared to babies Hannah's age. they have cell phones that are little voice recorders, and hand puppets. Any of these would be great. They have a pretty large section at Target at the Holyoke Mall.

I know most of us are sick of hearing about the election and it's results. I have read so much about how the dem's need to reorganize and rethink the whole election process.

But one thing that I read the other day made me take another look at how the election results were tallied. It's all about exit polls....that's how w was elected on 11/02. States are still counting the votes, New Mexico and Ohio. Kerry, why oh why, decide to call it quits before the voting was even finished.

Today I read an article concerning the deciding factor in this election that no one dares speak of.
Voter Fraud....

Of course, any discussion of this brings the same response, sore losing dems can;t do anything better with their time...just except the fact the w won...blah blah blah, I know you've heard them all before, or even thought the same...

w has again and again misguided, misled and plain out lied to get his way. And now he seems to feel, like almost everyone, that the election proved the dems and anti-war folk wrong on all accounts...that the war was justified, and that saddam really did personally fly a plane into the wtc....

People always forget, it's easier that way, or is it the way we have been trained to think?

Anyway, read the article, do some research and see if you can find the man behind the curtin pulling the strings....it's rove...

I am all for using the military against known bad guys like al-Queda. Our military is the best in the world and can really tear things up. But they are ineffective in the real war on terror being bogged down in Iraq, while OBL runs around free and gets to make videos....that's what really pisses me off....

Hannah and Jennifer are doing alot better...

And Little John has decided to turn into a monster and is terrorizing the house...

Spent the night setting up the Wife's parent's computer, finally decided to go with DSL. through Verizon, but still want to use AOL. ( Which I can't understand..?)

Anyway, this morning trying to stay awake, and write this out before it gets too busy at work to do anything....

So this year my son entered Pre-school, which is spoky because he seems to be growing up way too fast.
Well this past week he came home with pink eye, an ear infection, and a viral infection. Great fun.
The doctor gave us meds to cure most of his ails, but the pink eye and cold eventually moved from my son to my wife, and now to my duaghter.

So needless to say, life at home is like being in a Hospital, constantly cleaning, washing, deinfecting, and lots of hand washing.

My son swears though that he didn't have pink eye, he calls it Red Eye...

He makes me laugh so much...

I want to say hello to my sister who may or may not be reading this. She flew me down to DC for the REM concert on 11/01/04. Great show and even better seats...
Was able to meet Am. Joe Wilson, thanked him for doing his country a great service.

DC was beautiful that weekend, was able to walk all around town, witnessing the spirit of democracy, only to have w take away all hope the following day....
